Julie Knight is a native of St. Louis, MO. She recently completed her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at Florida State University, where she studied with Dr. Sahoko Sato Timpone. During her time at Florida State, she sang the role of the First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and studied the role of the Fire/Princess/Nightingale in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges. She also participated in the chorus for Marschner’s Der Vampyr and Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict and sang the role of Poppea in a scene from Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea. She was also the winner of Lower Advanced College Classical Treble Voice category in the 2021 Southeastern Regional National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions.

Ms. Knight completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance at Murray State University. While at Murray State, she studied with Dr. Maribeth Crawford. She performed the roles of Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone, Sandman in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella’s Mother/Snow White in Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and Sister Mary Martin-of-Tours in Sister Act. She also participated in a scenes program with full orchestra where she performed scenes from Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffman, Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, and Mozart’s Così fan tutte. Ms. Knight has also been featured as a soloist with the Murray State Concert Choir in Dominick DiOrio’s I Am, Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D Major, and Rutter’s Requiem. She also studied stage combat during her time at Murray State with Matthew Crider and Andrew Dylan Ray. She holds passes in all eight weapons tested by the Society of American Fight Directors and successfully completed the SAFD Theatrical Firearms Training Course. She served as fight choreographer/captain in the Murray State Campus Lights production of Into the Woods and fight captain in Murray State University’s production of Crazy for You.

Ms. Knight is currently based out of St. Louis, Missouri. She continues to perform, teach, and train while she pursues careers in opera performance, teaching private voice, fight choreography, and intimacy direction. In her free time, Ms. Knight loves to read, write, throw axes competitively, play cozy video games, and cuddle her cats and gerbils.
